Lin’s Scenic Dream Body
The following photos are progress shots of a single drawing, Lin’s soul portrait, and the legend it revealed.
Lin is the creator of the business, The Scenic Dreambody, helping people receive the wisdom of their dreams. She also supports families with newborns as they adjust to life with a baby.
Lin was guided by her dreams, synchronicities, and the call of the mountains to live In Taos, New Mexico.
She arrived onto this very page in a similar fashion . . . in big gusts of spirit and hefty sighs.
Lin loves to wander the world with a feeling of expansive freedom, like the birds she watches in the sky. And yet, another Lin desires to . . .
. . . grow down, root, and be a caretaker of new life.
But a determination remains to touch the expansiveness and freedom of the sky realm.
As Lin matures, she realizes, “It’s okay to house all these contradictions.”
She accepts the struggle of being with conflicting desires.
As I drew the stones, I started singing . . .
Through making this piece and speaking with Lin, I felt a new curiosity emerge:
Can I be patient like stone?
Can I feel held while I’m alone?
I encouraged Lin to connect the imagery in this piece to a powerful time in her life that she can draw strength from for years to come.
Lin shared with me an initiatory experience she had sitting alone on a mountainside for 4 days without food or water:
“I was in and out of a dream state. It was so easy to stop doing. I was held by ground, trees around me, and my imagination. Sleeping and waking like a newborn baby all the time. I could finally surrender. It felt like I was resting for the first time in decades. And when I came out and looked at myself, I looked older. I started out being afraid of that, being scorched by the sun. But I looked at myself and I looked proud. More pure in a way. That experience cleared me of things.”
“As a child I was obsessed with noticing the amnesia around our connection to children and imagination, and how poor that makes us in spirit and as a society,” Lin shared with me over our last phone call.
And in listening to this section of the portrait, I wrote this:
Walk across my hills and remember your dreams.
Spirit wants to speak with you.
Thank you Lin for being the embodiment of the scenic dreambody, and for helping me see my nightmare as a power dream ;)
Blessings upon your legendary story.
